THE SAD TRUTH
A One Act Theatre In Education Piece
The Sad Truth won the Julian Battersby Drama Award for Playwrights under 30 in 2014, and received it's first production at the Arts Centre Group at a rehearsed reading in 2015. It was performed by an ensemble of emerging actors and directed by Tony Jasper.
It was the first of a series of plays I wrote to explore mental health issues in young people (The second being Freckles and Cuts). Both plays were based off interviews with psychologists at Keele University, and looked at the perception and portrayal of depression in society, particularly in school environments.
