A 15 Minute Play
The Tapestry was one of the winning scripts for Metamorphosis 2, with the ‘Off The Cliff’ Theatre company and was performed at The Waterloo East Theatre, London from the 10th - 15th July.
This play is an experimental ensemble piece, and was written in response to ‘Philomela’, a tale from Book VI of Ovid’s Metamorphoses. In the story, Philiomela is raped by her brother in law, and to prevent her from speaking out against him, he cuts out her tongue. This play is a contemporary retelling of this story in light of the #metoo movement.
The first production of this piece was directed and produced by Kazia Rozycki, stage managed by Gwenan Bain and featured the following cast:
